Now blogging at The New HMA.net!

I'm happy to announce that I have been offered the opportunity to blog over on The Halloween Mask Association's website, which has been recently revamped. The first post is up and you can read it here.

The blog is called "Monster Moodboard: Behind the Scenes at Safari Anomalous". I will still post news and updates here at my website, but I've decided to use the HMA blog as an opportunity to show more of what goes on behind the scenes, and really get into the ideas that drive my work. And if you've ever wondered about where the name "Safari Anomalous" came from, you can read all about it in my first blog post!

I'd like to thank Eric Austin of The HMA for this opportunity.

Women in Horror Month - February 2011

Did you know that February is Women in Horror Recognition month?

As a female business owner working in the horror/haunt industry, I'm more than happy to get behind this cause. What exactly is Women in Horror Recognition Month? Here's an explanation, taken directly from the Women in Horror Month website:

"WiH Month came from the crazy brain of Hannah Neurotica (me) who is the creator and editor of Ax Wound: Gender & The Horror Genre. It is a month to celebrate all the women in the horror industry. Not just actresses but fx artists, writers, directors, female fans, etc. For a real indepth answer to this question please read the WiH Manifesto & the article I wrote for Fangoria ‘Prepping for Women in Horror Month’!"

Well, there you go. In conjunction with WiH month, Jen and Sylvia Soska of Twisted Twins Productions are promoting a Massive Blood Drive- here's a promo video they made:

So, donate some blood, search out horror films by female directors, or visit WiH Month's website or Facebook page for more info on how to get involved and events in your area! Here's one I'll be watching this month-Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow's 1987 vampire film, Near Dark:
