I am thrilled to announce that I have been added to Trick or Treat Studio's roster of incredibly talented sculptors. I have 3 pieces in the 2013 collection, and Trick or Treat just posted photos of one of them on Facebook tonight : The Medusa wig. Check out more pics here, and while you're over there, don't forget to like Safari Anomalous for updates and sneak peeks at upcoming projects.

World Wide Monocle Love
Safari Anomalous's sister site, S. Anomalous has been quite busy in the last few days. The S. Anomalous latex monocle prosthetic collection has been featured on several websites including Neatorama, Fashionably Geek, Laughing Squid, and Trendhunter. The current collection includes seven monocle designs available in a variety of color options that attach to the skin with prosthetic adhesive. They're also available with straps. You can check them out here : http://www.etsy.com/shop/SAnomalous
Also, if you like what you see but it isn't exactly what you need, I am always happy to do custom work. Contact me to discuss your ideas!

Solstice Madness
The most wonderful time of the year is here at Safari Anomalous! Every year we look forward to the Summer Solstice --- it's the longest day of the year, so the official start of summer beckons with BBQs, Philly water ice, and outdoor concerts in the park.
But once the solstice arrives, we also know that your preparations for the coming Haunt Season are in full swing! So while you may find us out and about on our occasional days off, we'll confess that we're spending the rest of the week in the workshop, attending to your orders. And we would not want it any other way! While this past year has seen us working on more film projects, we continue to make our highly detailed work available to haunters at all scales as you take your live attractions to the next level.
Because all of our prop, costume, and mask work is entirely designed and made here in our Philadelphia workshop, we love to discuss customizations you may desire, whether it be alternate color schemes or additional accessories to complement existing specimens, or commission work from scratch or from your design ideas.
With those goals in mind, we would like to remind you that we work on your orders on a first-paid, first-completed, first-shipped basis. We have learned from the past several years, that your orders booked by July 4th generally will be deliverable before Labor Day. As our production schedule fills up in August and September, we will typically send confirmations to anyone who has placed orders to clarify any deadline dates we need to take into consideration before we commit your pieces to production.
If you have any concerns or questions before you place an order or at any point after that, you can always contact us at info@safarianomalous.com or via our phone number shown at www.safarianomalous.com.

New Prop : Item #61 - The Nest of Snakes
We recently added a new item to the catalogue: Item #61 - The Nest of Snakes.
Snakes have certainly burrowed their way into the hearts of the Safari Anomalous expedition team. The only thing better than one snake is a big, tangled, writhing nest of them. And the only thing better than having one nest is having multiple nests, one for the bathtub, one for the garage, one for the closet in the guest bedroom, and, of course, one for the cockpit of the dirigible.
This prop is foam filled latex and measures about 3 feet in diameter. Two of the snake heads are detachable for easy shipment and storage. This prop is available for $300 plus shipping and handling charges. View more pics on the Creatures page.

Now blogging at The New HMA.net!
I'm happy to announce that I have been offered the opportunity to blog over on The Halloween Mask Association's website, which has been recently revamped. The first post is up and you can read it here.
The blog is called "Monster Moodboard: Behind the Scenes at Safari Anomalous". I will still post news and updates here at my website, but I've decided to use the HMA blog as an opportunity to show more of what goes on behind the scenes, and really get into the ideas that drive my work. And if you've ever wondered about where the name "Safari Anomalous" came from, you can read all about it in my first blog post!
I'd like to thank Eric Austin of The HMA for this opportunity.

Women in Horror Month - February 2011
Did you know that February is Women in Horror Recognition month?
As a female business owner working in the horror/haunt industry, I'm more than happy to get behind this cause. What exactly is Women in Horror Recognition Month? Here's an explanation, taken directly from the Women in Horror Month website:
"WiH Month came from the crazy brain of Hannah Neurotica (me) who is the creator and editor of Ax Wound: Gender & The Horror Genre. It is a month to celebrate all the women in the horror industry. Not just actresses but fx artists, writers, directors, female fans, etc. For a real indepth answer to this question please read the WiH Manifesto & the article I wrote for Fangoria ‘Prepping for Women in Horror Month’!"
Well, there you go. In conjunction with WiH month, Jen and Sylvia Soska of Twisted Twins Productions are promoting a Massive Blood Drive- here's a promo video they made:
So, donate some blood, search out horror films by female directors, or visit WiH Month's website or Facebook page for more info on how to get involved and events in your area! Here's one I'll be watching this month-Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow's 1987 vampire film, Near Dark:

Safari Anomalous on Thrillist
Last month the website Thrillist did a nice little write up on Safari Anomalous, along with a video shot in my studio. Special thanks to Thrillist editor Nick Hamner for making it all happen.
